MANSFIELD, OH - The St. Peter's Spartans did what they needed to do down the stretch to hold off the Mansfield Senior Tygers 71-57 in the city game at the Franciscan Center.

The game started off with runs by both teams before going back-and-forth until mid-way through the second quarter when the Spartans were able to gain some distance and head into the halftime break up 37-29.

The second half went the same way with the Tygers keeping the game close until the fourth when the Spartans went 13-of-16 from the free throw line to seal the game.

"I don't care when you play Senior High. The athletes they have on the court are tremendous," said Spartans head coach Joe Jakubick. "But we're in great shape."

The Spartans (2-0) had four players in double-figures and were led by Caleb Stewart's game-high 18 points. He was followed by Jared Jakubick's 17 points, Luke Henrich's 15 points, and Elijah Cobb's 12 points.

Mansfield Senior (0-1) was led by BJ Patrick's 15 points and DaQuan Hillory's 13 points as the only Tygers in double-figures.
